Primitive Reason are a crossover alt-rock band formed in Cascais, Portugal, in 1993. Founder Guillermo de Llera remains the only original member, alongside US-born longtime guitarist Abel Beja, with the rest of the band having over the years become a “collective”: former members and new members come and go show by show, tour by tour, album by album.
Primitive Reason pioneered new sounds in Portugal in the 90s, in the US in the 00’s, and continue breaking down genre barriers fueled by the vision(s) of multi-instrumentalist and ethnomusicologist Guillermo de Llera. Their hardcore fan base “The Primitive Tribe” come from all over the world, and are always the first to know what is coming next from Primitive Reason.
